Flavor of India

South Indian food is largely non-greasy, roasted and steamed. Rice is the staple diet and forms the basis of every meal. It is usually served with sambhar, rasam (thin tasty soup), and curried vegetables. Coconut is an important ingredient in all South Indian recipes. The South Indian Dosa (giant, rice crispy crepes rolled around a variety of fillings), idli (steamed rice cakes) and vada (lentil donut), which are made from fermented rice and dal. These delightful dishes are now popular throughout the country. Desserts from the south include the gulab jamun (milky delicious curd balls in honey syrup) and the creamy payasum (kheer with vermicelli).

Typical North-Indian meal would consist of Nan (roasted wheat bread) or Rotis/Chapati (unleavened bread baked on a griddle) or Parathas (multi-layered flaky bread fried on a griddle), rice and an assortment of accessories like dals, fried vegetables, curries, curd, chutney, and pickles. For desser, one could choose from the wide array of sweets such asrasagulla, rasamalai and gajar halva. North Indian desserts are very similar in taste as they are derived from a milk pudding or rice base and are usually soaked in syrup. Kheer (a form of rice pudding) and a Kulfi /Pista ice cream are other common Northern desserts.

This little storefront is the Indian restaurant you¿ve been looking for! The vegetarian food is extraordinary and affordable. The service is friendly at Sri Ganesh, unlike at many of its rivals in the west suburbs. We will be back again and again! The Web site, by the way, is www.sriganeshcuisine.com.

Sri Ganesh is a restaurant like no other. It offers people a chance to experience fine Indian dining right in their own back yard. Their master chefs prepare every meal right from scratch, giving you that "prepared from home" taste that is unrivaled. I highly recommend Sri Ganesh to anyone with a taste for delicious ethnic food. Whether your just stopping there for the appetizing lunch buffet or the superlative variety of authentic Indian cuisine, Sri Ganesh is definitely a place I would dine over and over again.

This is the best vegatarian indian restaurant in the suburbs. This is the only place that has food that is as good as my mothers cooking. The Samosa's are moist and tasty with homemade never old chutney. The dosa's are excellent , the only thing I don't like here are the paratha's they are not good, but I would eat here 5 days a week if needed.
